During its annual Zoomtopia event, Zoom made the formal announcement that it would soon install its videoconferencing app in Tesla vehicles. Elon Musk had already hinted that joining virtual meetings from a Tesla was definitely in the offing. Zoom, however, didn’t reveal much more details on how the app would work in cars. A short video of the app in action in a Model Y shows that it uses the in-cabin camera that’s mounted above the rear-view mirror. Tesla owners will find out what this camera, which has already raised some questions about privacy, actually sees. Then again, the feature’s demo video doesn’t show the vehicle in movement during the call. So does that mean that Zoom calls would be disabled unless the car is parked? Let’s hope so. No official date has been announced for the Zoom integration, but it will be available on “all new Tesla models soon.”
