The ROG Phone 5 Ultimate calls in all superlatives

Asus presented the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate, arguably the most sophisticated phone on the Android market. The device’s specifications are breathtaking, and include no less than 18 GB of RAM. That’s more RAM than you’ll find on many laptops! Moreover, the phone is equipped with a 6.78-inch 144 Hz OLED display (2448 × 1080 px), a Snapdragon 888 SoC, 512 GB of UFS 3.1 storage and a 6000 mAh battery. On the flipside, you’ll find a second diagonal screen just for great visual effects. It’s in fact more decorative than functional and meant to appeal to gamers -- the target audience. Another special feature for gamers: the two USB-C ports, one at the bottom as usual, but the other centered on the side, which makes it easier to charge while playing in landscape mode. A few lower-end models will also be available without the rear display and with reduced specs. However, we suspect the audience for this type of phone will naturally gravitate to the Ultimate model. Subject of course to ponying up the 1,300 EUR (the price announced for Europe, which is around 1,950 CAD). On sale in Europe starting in May. Availability in other parts of the world has yet to be announced.
