LG announced Direct View LED, a new line of home theater displays ranging in size from an already oversize 108-inch HD display (2.75 diagonal meters) to a massive 325-inch 8K panel (8.25m), which costs a whopping USD 1.7 million and weighs over 900 kilos. Previously reserved for commercial buyers, LG now sells them to anyone who can afford it. Apart from financial solvency, you also need a house big enough for those 108 inches, which further limits the number of potential buyers (though if you’re willing to pony up USD 2 million for a TV, you presumably have the house to go with it). Bonus: with the device emitting 56,592 BTU, your living room will double as a sauna unless you have a robust air-conditioner. Most DVLED displays come in a regular 16:9 aspect ratio, but LG also sells 32:9 versions in case you want to watch two video streams side-by-side. As Best Buy has insufficient floor space, you’ll have to order directly from LG.

The Verge, Jon Porter, “LG now makes a 2,000 pound TV that costs $1.7 million.”
