iMacs in all colors of the rainbow

Apple returned to bright colors for its iMacs, offering no less than seven very vivid shades. Such a riot of colors had not been seen since the iMac G3 of 1999. Apple’s new line of entry-level computers is equipped with the new M1 processor and a 24 inch Retina 4.5K display. Thanks to a very small motherboard (in fact nearly the same size as that of a MacBook Pro M1) and the transfer of the power supply to an external brick, Apple was able to produce a much thinner, 11.5 mm model. Depending on the configuration, the performance of this iMac should be very close, if not identical to the Mac mini, MacBook Air and MacBook Pro released a few months ago. The new iMac has the same limitations as the first SoC M1 models: a maximum of 16 GB of RAM and 2 TB of storage, just two supported displays and only two Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports. As for upgrades, there’s a 1080p camera, which is still nothing fancy, but also a six-speaker sound system that Apple confidently claims is the best sound system ever built into a Mac. Prices start at CAD 1,600. Pre-orders begin April 30 and deliveries in mid-May. Along with the new iMac, Apple is also launching a color-matching keyboard, mouse, and trackpad. The keyboard has a Touch ID button for logging into your user account. There was also rumor of a 32 inch iMac, but you’ll have to wait a little longer for that.
