After the seasoned Windows Movie Maker was edited away in 2017, Microsoft no longer offered an app expressly for video editing in Windows. You had to go through Microsoft Photo’s limited Video Editor functionalities. Microsoft has once more come up with a dedicated app in Windows 11 with its September purchase of Clipchamp, a browser-based video editing tool. Along with advanced video editing functionalities, Microsoft adds an Azure-powered text-to-speech generator, allowing creatives to layer voiceovers in 70 languages. OneDrive is also integrated for cloud storage of files. Microsoft says that Clipchamp is now an “inbox” Windows 11 app, meaning that it will come preinstalled on all new Windows 11 machines. Clipchamp is already available in teh Insider Preview Build 22572 of March 9.

The Verge, Tom Warren, “Clipchamp is Microsoft’s new video editing app for Windows 11.”
